Andy Roddick and Ivan Ljubicic clinched berths at the season-ending Tennis Masters Cup when other players in the running for the eight-player event lost matches Tuesday.

Roddick and Ljubicic join No. 1 Roger Federer and No. 2 Rafael Nadal, who already had qualified for the Nov. 12-19 tournament at Shanghai's Qi Zhong Stadium.

Roddick reached the semifinals at the Tennis Masters Cup in 2003 and 2004, but he pulled out last year with a back injury. Ljubicic bowed out in the round-robin stage in 2005.

Roddick clinched a spot this year when Marcos Baghdatis lost to Arnaud Clement 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 at the Lyon (France) Grand Prix on Tuesday, while Ljubicic's berth was secured when Tommy Robredo was upset by Wayne Arthurs 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 at the St. Petersburg (Russia) Open.

Robredo and Baghdatis have a shot at qualifying for the Masters Cup in China.

•  Elsewhere: Federer routed qualifier Tomas Zib 6-1, 6-2 -- his 20th win in a row -- at the Swiss Indoors at Basel, Switzerland. . . . Vera Zvonareva rallied to beat eighth-seeded Francesca Schiavone 5-7, 6-1, 6-3 in the first round of the Generali Ladies at Linz, Austria.
